FSSAI registration and licence
Every food business in India needs FSSAI registration or a licence under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 — including importers and exporters of food. We find the right category, file on the FSSAI FoSCoS portal and keep it renewed.

FAQ
Do food importers need an FSSAI licence?
Yes. Food importers need a Central licence from FSSAI along with their IEC; imported food consignments are also checked by FSSAI at the port before customs clearance.
What is the difference between FSSAI registration and licence?
Basic registration is for small food businesses; larger businesses need a State or Central licence depending on turnover, activity and location. Importers and exporters need the Central licence.
How long is an FSSAI licence valid?
Registrations and licences are issued for 1 to 5 years, as chosen when applying, and must be renewed before expiry.
Turnover limits, fees and documents depend on the category and are confirmed against the FSSAI rules in force when we quote.
