New vehicles must meet Motor Vehicles Act/CMVR rules. Used vehicles must be no more than 3 years old, right-hand drive with km speedometer and keep-left headlamps, and tested by a notified agency. Parts are generally free but some (e.g. tyres) need BIS certification.
