Key rules for India–Israel trade

  • No free trade agreement is in force yet: goods pay normal (MFN) duties both ways. FTA negotiations are under way (rounds in February and July 2026).
  • Imports into Israel are cleared through the Israel Tax Authority’s Shaar Olami system, usually by a licensed Israeli customs agent; imports pay 18% VAT.
  • Products sold in Israel need Hebrew labelling (origin, producer, importer, contents). Many consumer products, foods and cosmetics can enter on EU compliance under the “What’s good for Europe is good for Israel” reform.
  • An India–Israel Bilateral Investment Agreement was signed in September 2025 to protect investments in both countries (reported in force from July 2026 — we confirm the current status for you).
  • Into India: Israeli goods pay India’s MFN duty; BIS certification applies where a Quality Control Order covers the product, and rough diamonds need a Kimberley Process certificate.
